Stronger Together
Led by the Laird Norton Family Foundation
The Laird Norton enterprise and their partners raised over $1,000,000 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and distributed funds nationally to the Seattle Foundation, Pierce County Connected, Washington Food Fund, and the Winona Community Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund.
“We understand our values of community outreach and partnership are even more important during these times, and we will continue to do what we can in support of our communities, partners, employees, and family members who have given so much to our enterprise over seven generations,” shares Katie Briggs, Managing Director of the Laird Norton Family Foundation.
The Laird and Norton families, related to each other from their pioneer origins in Pennsylvania, settled in Winona, Minnesota, in the mid-1850s. There, William Harris Laird and his cousins, Matthew G. Norton and James Laird Norton, formed the Laird Norton Company.
The pioneer logging and lumberyard operation was the first of several family-owned companies, first in the Midwest, later in the Pacific Northwest, and finally all over the West, including Alaska. Today, Laird Norton Company, LLC is still a privately owned and operated family business, committed to contributing value to its family and community.
The Laird Norton enterprise includes almost 500 Laird Norton family members, the Laird Norton Company, Laird Norton Properties, Laird Norton Wealth Management, Laird Norton Family Foundation and the Winona Foundation. Family members live throughout the world and occupy a wide array of professions. They come together every year to share skills and interests, and strengthen their connection to each other and their shared history.
“It is a privilege to give back to a community that has given us so much over the generations.,” comments Jeff Vincent, CEO of Laird Norton Company. “We are proud our Winona roots run deep.”
