About the Storm Sporting Events Scholarship
The Storm Sporting Events Scholarship was created to support students who are pursuing a degree in the field of mental health, with a particular focus on supporting youth mental health. This $5,000 scholarship will be awarded annually to one eligible applicant who meets the following criteria:
Is enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at one of the following educational institutions:
- Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota (Winona)
- University of Wisconsin (La Crosse)
- Viterbo University (La Crosse)
- Winona State University
For undergraduates, having completed at least 60 credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4-point scale.
Has completed an online application form submitting all required information including academic transcripts from all post-secondary educational institutions attended
Has a desire to pursue a career in a field addressing youth mental health such as a counselor, licensed therapist, social worker, psychologist, or psychiatrist (list not meant to be inclusive) with a stated preference for practicing in Winona and/or surrounding communities
Letter of recommendation from an academic instructor/professor or direct internship advisor requirement is completed
Application deadline: March 15, 2025
Results of the scholarship application will be shared with individual applicants by May 15 and will be publicized during the Storm Sporting Event’s Trinona Event in June.
