2020 Annual Impact Report
Maximizing Impact
The Winona Community Foundation is a forward looking organization. We manage the assets entrusted to us wisely and professionally to maximize the capacity to support a variety of community organizations doing good and important work. The foundation’s volunteer board of directors maps out the future to ensure the growth of assets and available funds to give back to the community. In 2020, fund advisors distributed more than $1.7 million to charity and another $95,000 was granted through the Community Grant Program. The financial summary presented below is un-audited. Complete, audited financial statements are available at the Winona Community Foundation’s office during regular business hours.

Community Grants
The goal of the Community Grant program is to strengthen our community through philanthropy by making grants to projects and causes that address both the needs and the opportunities present in the community. Funds to support the Community Grant program are made possible in part through gifts made through wills from; Ramona L. Jezewski English and Wilmer & Beverly Larson. Community grants are also supported by individual donors and a percentage of the General Trust fund of the Winona Community Foundation.

Your Winona Community Foundation
We all know 2020 was a year filled with challenges. We could dwell on that or we can acknowledge and celebrate the many positives that emerged from those challenges. In addition to a new logo and website, the Foundation offices relocated to a suite in the Riverfront Building with easy access immediately off Walnut Street. A database conversion has improved efficiencies in communicating with our fund holders, processing gifts and grants, and managing relationships. In the 2020 report, you will learn about the incredible generosity of the Winona community in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. And you will also learn about the revitalized Founders Award program and the servant leadership of JC Pfeiffer, the 2020 Founders Award recipient.
