Services We Offer

Endowments

An endowment is a gift of money or assets invested to generate income for a nonprofit’s charitable work. Endowments are designed to provide a reliable, long-term source of income. Using an endowment spending policy, a portion of the growth is granted back to the charity to use for their mission work as often as annually. And the fund will grow over time as well!

Endowments with the Winona Community Foundation protect permanent assets from financial hardships directly at a nonprofit, neglect, improper use or invasion.

The Winona Community Foundation holds endowments funds for over a dozen nonprofits in this region.

Investment Services

We work with nonprofits to invest savings or surplus funds. This can be an on-going relationship or short-term for an upcoming project.

Special Projects

We have a long-standing relationship with organizations such as the City of Winona and local service clubs, to manage their funds when fundraising for a special project or program. We have the expertise and systems in place to receive and receipt donations, provide 24/7 access to donation information through a portal, and manage and grow the funds. We also build trust and credibility with donors.

Special projects we worked with over the years include, repaving the Winona Lake Park Path, the Lion’s Every Child Dream Inclusive Playground project, the Trempealeau, Wisconsin Home is Where Your Park Is project, and the Winona Bandshell restoration. We also have on-going project funds such as Friends of Winona Parks which focuses on tree plantings and the Masonic Temple Restoration fund which is used for improvements to the building. Facilitating Philanthropy

We have the process in place to help nonprofit accept complex gifts such as stock. Please connect with us if your organization has a need to accept a gift other than cash.

We facilitated philanthropy for a local capital campaign, and a capital project for the City of Winona.

Fiscal Sponsorship

For many years, the Winona Community Foundation has helped local charitable projects get off the ground by providing fiscal and administrative infrastructure they need to operate through a fiscal sponsorship agreement. A fiscal sponsorship must operate like a nonprofit, but does not need its own EIN and all the paperwork requirements that come with operating a 501c3.
