Nancy BrownHello, Friends,

As the autumn leaves change, it is time for a personal change. It has been my distinct honor to serve as the Winona Community Foundation’s president/CEO for the last five-plus years. Together we have built community awareness and confidence in the Foundation and sparked an interest in philanthropy in all its forms along the way.

My husband, Jim, has been retired for going on three years. While as he will tell you, he’s “very busy,” we are ready to go on some additional adventures together. That is why I made the difficult decision to retire at the end of this year. I informed both the board and staff in early September, and they are working on a transition plan. I am confident in Mandi Olson’s leadership and financial acumen, and in Emily’s administrative and communication skills. If I was not, I would not feel comfortable in this decision.

I love this work. I love this community. I love working with you and your philanthropy. But the freedom and flexibility to wake up when I want, go for a run or bike ride when I want, or take a day trip when I want with the man I love calls me to this decision.

It is my intent to be done at the end of the year, however I will stay on to assist with the transition and remain a ready resource should I be needed. Thank you, so much, for allowing me to be a small part of your philanthropy.

With gratitude,

Nancy M. Brown, CFRE
