In December of 2022, a community partner, Altra Federal Credit Union, donated a gift of $2,500 to the Winona Community Foundation. Altra was selected to be one of the ten credit unions given a $10,000 donation from the SCU’s Credit Union Give Back Sweepstakes to give charities of their choice. Winona Community Foundation was one of the four organizations selected to receive this a gift.
When you give the Winona Community Foundation, you are a catalyst in ensuring we can do what we do today, tomorrow, and even better, for future generations. At its heart, the Foundation exists to serve as a permanent source of charitable dollars for the benefit of all who live, work, and play in this wonderful place we call home.
A few examples of what we’ve accomplished with our donors in 2022 include:
- Establishing the Foundation’s Community Impact Endowment to support the Winona community forever. This special fund will be invested to create charitable resources for generations to come.
- Granting our over $1.8 million to eligible, 501(c)3 nonprofits through donor-directed grants to community causes important to them.
- $149,959 awarded to 23 local nonprofits through Community Grants.
- $165,000 granted to individuals in need through our Emergency Assistance Fund.
- Supporting local nonprofits directly including sponsoring the Winona Nonprofit Alliance and providing administrative support to local nonprofits such as Goodfellows, BK5K, Ready Set School, and others.
