The Winona Community Foundation Board of Director’s appointed Nancy M. Brown, CFRE, as its new executive director. Brown’s principal duties will include: increasing the impact and influence of the Foundation throughout the region it serves; providing leadership for the Foundation’s relationships with donors, professional advisors, affiliates, community leaders, and key nonprofit agencies throughout the region; increasing the Foundation’s philanthropic assets by linking people with the charitable needs and programs that matter most to them, as well as with key community and regional priorities; providing leadership and support to the Board of Directors and committees; mention and supporting the Foundation’s staff; administering the implementation of Board policies and plans toward accomplishment of Foundation goals; and guiding overall operations, growth, staff development, and expansion of the organization.
“Ms. Brown has the unanimous and strong support of the WCF Board,” Board President Dr. Hamid Akbari said. “The Board has resolved to focus on a transformational future for the Foundation. Nancy’s experience, proven competencies, and her passion for Winona community will give us an Executive Director with transformational leadership qualities.”
Brown mostly recently served as Senior Director of Development at Saint Mary’s University. Her past experience includes Vice President/Consultant at Thompson & Associates, an independent consultant, Executive Director of Development at Winona Health, and Director of Major Gifts and Advancement Services at Winona State University. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the Master’s in Philanthropy and Development program at LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Master of Science in Administration Degree from University of Notre Dame. She is also a Certified Fundraising Executive.
Brown began her duties on May 6.
